Xingyu Zhang is a PhD candidate at UNSW Sydney. Xingyu obtained a master’s degree from Fudan University and a bachelor’s degree from East China University of Science and Technology. Xingyu’s research focuses on soft tactile sensors for robotic applications, with particular emphasis on multimodal force sensing and slip detection. This work combines sensor design, fabrication and experimental characterisation to improve how robots perceive and respond to physical contact. Potential applications include handling fragile objects and soft biological tissues, supporting the development of robotic sensing technologies for healthcare and human–robot interaction.
