Ting Liao

Dr Ting Liao is an Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical, Chemical, and Process Engineering, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia. She received her PhD in 2009 from the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since then, she was awarded four Research Fellows and worked at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, the University of Queensland, Australia, and the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia. In 2017, she joined QUT, as Senior Lecturer and ARC Future Fellow, and in the second year, she was promoted to Associate Professor.

As a materials science academic, A/Prof Ting Liao is interested on the unique properties of low dimensional materials and their hybrids, which cannot be obtained from the corresponding bulk forms. She has been focusing on design of low dimensional materials in diverse energy application, including photovoltaics, catalysis, and energy storage. In this Hub, she will work with the UNSW team to develop a self-powered battery for wearable sensors and artificial sensory memory.
